Latex rubber gloves

22 June 2020

To date, latex gloves (rubber) are successfully used not only when doing household work - washing or cleaning, but also in the medical, industrial, chemical and many other industries.

And since each direction presents its requirements to gloves, many varieties of products have appeared. The main requirement that applies to rubber gloves (latex) is their resistance to various caustic substances.

That is why special tests are carried out during which the surface of the products is exposed to sulfuric acid, which we have known since school by the formula H2SO4, and sodium hydroxide - NaOH.

To check latex (rubber) gloves for the quality of hand protection, they are lowered into solutions of various concentrations. Accordingly, the greater the concentration of products withstand, the higher their quality. But they also check it by the duration of exposure to chemical compounds. In this case, the longer rubber (latex) gloves last, the higher their reliability.

All products designed to protect hands from chemicals are marked with special pictograms.

As a rule, they consist of three letters and indicate the substance in front of which latex (rubber) gloves have withstood. But, given that the concentration of substances can be different, and the composition of chemicals is often different from established norms, it is advisable to familiarize yourself with the results of laboratory tests before purchasing gloves. The designation of the chemical on the packaging of gloves is placed only if the products have withstood when exposed to the solution for more than 30 minutes. In other cases, the tests are not considered passed.

The longer the gloves withstood exposure to certain substances, the higher the protection class. In total, rubber gloves (latex) can have six classes of protection, the first of which is the simplest for ordinary household products. In addition to all of the above, latex (rubber) gloves are classified into three risk categories.
