Work gloves for horizontal bar?

This article will help you choose the right gloves for the horizontal bar. Personally, I use both gloves for using gloves, because I don’t think rough calluses and wounded hands are the best decoration for men (and especially for girls !!!). In my short review, I will consider the pros and cons of the most popular gloves that I tried myself (so I share my opinion).

Gloves for workers (construction)

Retail price: 2-10 UAH / pair.

Features: Produced in various variations, with pimples, completely flooded with rubber on one or both sides.

Opinion: This is the cheapest and most common option paired with straps, which gives excellent safe sliding on the horizontal bar. The quality is appropriate for the price, so they not only do not protect your hands from corns in any way, but they also rub very quickly to holes, so you have to buy a new pair (good, which is inexpensive).

Conclusion: better than nothing.

Bike gloves

Retail price: 50-200 UAH / pair (good gloves cost around 200 UAH).

Features: Leather trim on the palm side, cropped fingers and open / light back of the gloves for more volumetric and easy ventilation.

Opinion: Usually bicycle gloves become the second option, after you get tired of constantly trying to hit construction gloves. It should be noted immediately two main disadvantages of these gloves. Firstly, in this type of gloves a fairly thin type of skin is used, which does not particularly protect against corns and with active use on the horizontal bar they become unusable after 1 week - 2-3 months. Secondly, due to the fact that fingers of this type of gloves are cut off, during regular exercises on the horizontal bar, additional corns are formed on the phalanges of the fingers (where the gloves end).

Conclusion: For the same money you can find much better gloves.

Weightlifting gloves

Retail price: 60-200 UAH. / pair (good ones can be found in the region of 150 UAH).

Features: Heavily cut fingers, thick palm skin and mesh / cut out top.

Opinion: Gloves specially designed for training in a gym with a bar are quite often also used on horizontal bars / pipes that are wrapped with something (plaster, cloth tape, etc.) to increase adhesion to the surface, as the fingers of the glove are very circumcised, and thick skin is covered with deep lines (folds) which are not very comfortable ... When performing any exercises other than the base or, especially, different elements, such gloves lose more than 50% of their benefit. In contrast to the previous version, they kill much longer, but the problem of corns on the fingers (where the gloves are cut off) becomes even more acute.

Conclusion: Good for the hall, bad for the workout.

Gloves for horizontal bar

Retail price: 180 UAH

Features: Specially designed for practicing on horizontal bars and uneven bars, a special type of suede from the palm of your hand fully protects your hand.

Opinion: Unlike previous gloves, these were specially designed for classes on horizontal bars and bars, taking into account all the features of workout training. Firstly, these gloves have full finger protection, thanks to which corns are not afraid not only of the palms, but also of the fingers! Secondly, there are two types of WORKOUT gloves - F1 and F2, which differ in the type of suede on the palm and the strength of its adhesion to the surface. In the general case, F1s are better suited for performing dynamic elements (outputs, jumps, etc.), since the adhesion force is lower, and F2 for static elements (including on poles and vertical pipes), since it gives a very good grip with surface. Even with active training, these gloves will calmly serve you for 6-9 months, and maybe longer. What these gloves do not like is water (suede spoils faster) and sharp pieces of paint (when poorly painted, as often happens) on the crossbar.

Conclusion: At the moment, this is the best I have tried.

Winter Wool Gloves

Retail price: 20-200 UAH / pair.

Features: Fingers are not trimmed, there is no skin either, but there is wool on the entire surface of the gloves.

Opinion: This type of gloves has two advantages over everyone else: warmth and good gliding. That is why this type of gloves is most often used in the winter season, but it should be noted that with regular training, they also wear out very quickly and rub to holes.

Conclusion: A good option for the cold season.
