Leather gloves

In the manufacture of good gloves, leather is needed for special dressing, different from leather used for the production of other leather goods (belts, bags, purses, purses, etc.). The leather that is used to make gloves should be no less durable than the leather used to sew bags and shoes, but also thin and smooth at the same time to adapt to the movements of the hand. The skin undergoes a special treatment, as it should be elastic, but only in one direction - the width of the glove. Classical skin stretching is done only manually. Cutting the skin is made both manually and by machine. However, machine cutting (as well as machine stretching of the skin) negatively affects the behavior of gloves in the sock, although it can significantly reduce the cost of production.

Only in the manufacture of leather gloves is leather dyed through and through. In addition, this skin is so thin that its surface cannot be treated in the same way as the treatment of leather for shoes, clothes, and bags. Therefore, the color of the glove may contain various shades and it is far from always possible to select gloves to the bag or shoes exactly exactly in color.

Glove skin, being a natural product, may have certain flaws. Therefore, in the manufacture of gloves, the presence of some scratches and chips on the palm is acceptable, which is a sign of the naturalness of the skin. If the skin on the gloves looks perfect, it does not have wrinkles, creases, or scratches, then most likely these gloves are made of low-grade leather, the ideal look of which is achieved by masking defects with a coating applied to the face layer of the skin. Such gloves very quickly lose their shape and appearance during wear.

It should be noted that when sewing leather gloves of the REIS brand, very high quality glove leather with a minimal coating of the front layer is used. Therefore, these gloves do not lose their appearance during the wear process for a long time, they are easy to care for and clean, which is especially important for light and colored gloves.

The thickness of the glove skin is usually 0.4-1mm. Moreover, the smaller the thickness of the skin, the more expensive it is, as a rule (with the exception of deer skin - the thicker it is, the more expensive).

Types of Glove

lamb

- lamb skin - very thin, elastic and soft skin (usually of an animal under the age of 1 year), is used to produce quite expensive, often elite gloves.

The main suppliers of raw materials for the production of this type of skin are Ethiopia and Yemen.
The main manufacturers of finished lamb skin:

Pittard (England) - most glove companies are inclined to believe that this company ranks first in terms of the quality of lamb leather;
Ariston- (Italy). He is also engaged in the production of gloves in Italy and China.

goat

kid’s skin is harder and thicker, less elastic than lamb’s skin, has a more porous structure, and is usually used to make cheaper gloves. Raw materials and finished leather of this type come from almost all countries with leather production.

deer

the traditional material for making leather gloves is deer skin. This leather for gloves is distinguished by its unique structure, which determines its main properties: elasticity, softness, strength and high thermal protection, a characteristic shagreen pattern that distinguishes it from other leathers. Shagreen skin pattern is achieved by special technological processing. The raw material base for the global production of deer skin is located in the northern territories of Scandinavia, North America and Russia.

Very rarely in the production of extremely expensive, not mass tailoring gloves use the skin of carp and other large fish, goose bumps.
